This is a short how-to video that will cover the basics of the distance mode for the K30 Pro Optical Sensor from Banner Engineering.
The first step is to connect the K30 Pro Optical Sensor to a Windows PC using the Pro-Editor cable kit, and by following the diagram in the Pro-Editor datasheet.
If you're having trouble connecting, check out our troubleshooting guide on the Banner Pro-Editor software.
Plug the Pro-Editor cable into a USB port on your Windows PC and click 'Connect'.
Click 'Continue' and then select 'Distance'.
The distance mode sets the device to operate as a visual gauge, with an In Range state providing a fill animation, and an Out of Range state indicating that the target is out of visual detection range.
For the In Range State, you can choose from 14 color options to set the background and fill colors.
The measurement range for this animation can be set using the 'Low' and 'High' menus under the 'Visual Range' column.
For the Out of Range state, the K30 Pro Optical has ten customizable animations available.
The detection window can also be modified in the software.
You can set the output switchpoints via the Output Switchpoint 'Low' and 'High' menus.
Note that these switchpoints are independent from the visual range limits.
When a target is detected between these two switch points, the K30 will send an output signal via the black wire or pin 4 on the five-pin models, and via the white wire or pin 1 on the eight-pin models.
To preview the sensor's measurement readings, click the 'Play' icon to enter live mode.
The Pro-Editor software will pull the sensor's measurements in real time, allowing you to determine the best switchpoints for your application.
To write the configuration to the device, click the 'Write' button.
That covers the basics for setting up the distance mode for the K30 Pro Optical Sensor.
