This is a short how to video that will cover the basics of the 3- and 7-state detection modes for the K30 Pro Optical Sensor from Banner Engineering.
The first step is to connect the K30 Pro Optical Sensor to a Windows PC using the Pro-Editor cable kit and by following the diagram in the Pro-Editor datasheet.
If you're having trouble connecting, cCheck out our troubleshooting guide on the Banner Pro-Editor Software.
Plug the Pro-Editor Cable into a USB port on your Windows PC and click 'Connect'.
Click 'Continue', and then select 'Detection'. Click on the Device Logic dropdown menu and select 'Three State Advanced Control'.
The 3-state mode controls the light using two inputs via the white and gray wires, or pins 2 and 5.
The K30 Pro Optical has ten customizable animations with 14 color options.
To preview an animation, click the 'Start' button. The detection window can also be modified in the software.
You can set the output switch points via the Output Switchpoint Low and High menus.
When a target is detected between these two switchpoints, the K30 will send an output signal via the black wire or pin 4 on the 5-pin models, and via the white wire or pin 1 on the 8-pin models.
To preview the sensors measurement readings, click the 'Play' icon to enter live mode.
The Pro-Editor software will pull the sensor's measurements in real time, allowing you to determine the best switchpoints for your application.
If you have an 8-pin model of the K30 Pro Optical, the software will also include a 7-state logic mode.
This mode is similar to the 3-state mode, but with four additional states to which animations can be assigned to achieve these additional states.
The 7-state logic mode takes inputs via the green, yellow and red wires or pins 3, 4, and 8.
To write the configuration to the device, click the 'Write' button.
That covers the basics of setting up the 3- and 7-state detection modes for the K30 Pro Optical Sensor.
