Powerful ABR Reader Reads DPM Codes on Electronic Components
Challenge
On electronic assembly lines, reliably identifying and reading small 2D Direct Part Marking (DPM) codes is essential. These information-dense codes track data at the component level, such as serial number and date of production. While they are low-contrast and thus more difficult to read, DPM codes are commonly used to ensure that the code will survive the life of the part. In addition, DPM codes are often found on more than one component, and so a particularly robust reader is required to identify the codes and maintain the flow of production.
Solution
The powerful ABR 7000 reader features 2 MP resolution—high enough to reliably read the small DPM code content on electronic components as they go by. Polarized windows reduce glare from parts and ensure a proper read every time, and customizable light configurations allow for higher contrast that is particularly effective in reading DPM codes. Autofocus even allows for product line changeover without having to touch the reader itself, allowing for continuous flow of production while maintaining rapid and accurate identification of the DPM codes.
SUPERIOR DECODING OF CHALLENGING BARCODES
ABR Series barcode readers with a 2MP (1600 x 1200 pixels) imager reliably read small or complex barcodes, even at large distances or field of views. Polarization models are available in both 1.3 MP and 2 MP resolutions for optimized performance in any application that involves reading codes on shiny or reflective surfaces, or where glare is present. Utilizing advanced algorithms, every ABR decodes a full library of 1D and 2D barcodes, including DPM, damaged, distorted, or overprinted codes.
INTEGRATED LIGHTING FOR OPTIMAL CONTRAST
Standard integrated LED illuminators provides bright uniform light to illuminate barcodes and provide proper contrast in order to reliably read every time. The ABR 7000 is available in a variety of LED configurations, including multicolored LEDs for bright-field and dark-field illumination within one unit, ideal for use in low-contrast and direct part marking (DPM) applications.
EASY INSTALLATION AND SETUP FOR RAPID DEPLOYMENT
The all-in-one design of ABR Series barcode readers combines imager, lens, and LED lighting in one, easy-to-deploy device. Autofocus is available to offer simplified device installation and product change over. The compact ABR 7000 has a rotating connector for straight or right-angle installations. Device setup is easy using Barcode Manager software or the on-board Smart Teach interface.
VERSATILE LENS OPTIONS TO SOLVE MORE APPLICATIONS
The ABR 7000 features a 1.3 or 2 MP imager and is available with a 6 mm, 9 mm, 12 mm, or 16 mm manual focus lens, or a 9 mm software adjustable liquid lens autofocus. The autofocus lens option makes it easy to adapt to changes in read distance, simplifying setup and product changeover.
