Drilled Holes Inspection
Challenge
Many metal parts used in the automobile manufacturing process require holes to be punched to accommodate other parts in the assembly process.
Occasionally, the hole-punch does not go all the way through or the punch itself is not clean; that is, burrs or other debris remain in the hole after it is punched. The solution requires a sensor that can detect whether holes are present.
Solution
This application uses an iVu Series sensor configured for an Area inspection. When holes are punched, the sensor evaluates all the holes to make sure that they are present and correctly sized. If any are not, the sensor sends a fail output to the line where the part is rejected.
