Level Monitoring for Washdown Environments
Application: Monitoring levels inside a tank
Challenges: Washdown environment, tanks can be filled with liquids or solids
Solution: QT50U Ultrasonic Sensor
Benefits: Available with a Teflon-coated cover for resistance to chemicals and uses ultrasonic waves to bounce off any solid surface
In food and beverage applications where liquid and solid levels must be monitored, a long range sensor is needed that can reach the full depth of the tank without coming in contact with the tank contents.
Description
Banner’s U-Gage QT50U ultrasonic sensor excels at the most challenging level applications, bouncing sound off any solid surface—even those that may vary in consistency or contrast. The sensor is available with a Teflon-coated transducer cover, making it resistant to harsh chemicals and suitable for the food and beverage industry.
Ultrasonic sensors are able to provide accurate monitoring of pump-controlled tanks by sending a continuous signal to measure the current tank depth. The ultrasonic sensor can be mounted to the top of the tanks so it can spread out its beams and detect the material without interference, while signaling when to pump out excess material and pump in additional material.
The setup is simple with highly visible LEDs and an easy-to-use push-button and remote TEACH-mode programming. Banner’s U-Gage QT50U ultrasonic has extended sensing ranges up to eight meters and uses a narrow sensing beam to detect targets.
