Custom I/O
Optimize control system design through customization. Banner can provide what you need with pin level customization, preprogrammed devices, custom labels, custom connectivity, and kitting.
REAL SOLUTIONS THAT SAVE TIME AND REDUCE COSTS
Banner’s extensive customization capabilities will help you enhance your equipment and operation. This will simplify installation to reduce setup time and cost, and will ensure proper installation. Turnkey parts not only cut the number of vendors you need to work with, but also minimize spare parts inventory and improve logistics. Custom parts deliver an intuitive experience.
Reduce the amount of components in your control system by customizing each port of an IO-Block to provide the correct signal type at each pin. This reduces the need to combine various products to achieve the I/O system you need.
Challenge: A customer was using an I/O block along with three other signal converters to control a section of a conveyor. Beyond the four components needed for this system, it also required them to stock more parts, as well as assembling them together.
Solution: Banner is able to provide a custom I/O block with each port having the correct I/O type for the application, reducing components for this section of conveyor from four down to one.
Preprogrammed Devices
If you have a configuration already developed for your Banner I/O block we can load it prior to shipping, saving you time during machine assembly and reducing the opportunity for errors by eliminating this step in your process.
Challenge: A customer was using a Banner DXMR90-X1 industrial controller that had a custom configuration used to monitor several sensors on their machine. Due to the amount of controllers the customer was using, they were spending a substantial amount of time programming each device before installing it.
Solution: The customer shared their configuration file with Banner and a custom part was created so that it arrived with this configuration preprogrammed into their device, saving the customer time during assembly and allowing their technicians to focus on higher priority tasks.
Labeling
Build a cohesive brand identity, communicate product specifications, and simplify the troubleshooting process with custom labels and markings.
Challenge: A customer wants to simplify their assembly process by enabling their technicians to make connections to I/O blocks without looking at an installation diagram.
Solution: Banner is able to create a custom label for their I/O block that defined what each port was responsible for. Combined with pre-labeled cordsets from Banner, this allowed the customer's technicians to know exactly where each cordset needed to be connected on the I/O block, which helped reduce errors and assembly time.
Connectivity
Streamline the connection of cordsets to your I/O blocks by customizing each port with the connector or cable you need.
Challenge: A customer wants to use several unique cordsets to connect between their I/O block and the field devices. This was an issue since many of these cordsets were unique and difficult to source.
Solution: Banner is able to create an I/O block that provided ports with connectors that allowed the customer to use off-the-shelf cables. For example, instead of the standard M12 ports, two ports were changed to M8 ports so that the customer could use a standard double-ended M8 cable instead of a cable with an M12 on one end and an M8 on the other.
Kitting
Save installation time and simplify depolyments with custom packaging, brackets, and assemblies.
Challenge: A customer who build several of the same machines per week was spending a lot of time picking parts from inventory and building a kit of I/O components that would be used by the technician during machine assembly. Additionally, there were times when the incorrect parts would be picked by the warehouse staff, causing delays for the technicians.
Solution: Banner was able to provide a a kit of parts that included I/O blocks, cordsets, sensors, lights, and brackets for each machine being built. This consolidated the parts that the warehouse staff needed to pick from over 20 down to just one, saving time during this process. This kit also helped the technician by providing exactly what they needed to complete the machine build.
