Accurate Vehicle Detection at Loading Docks
Challenge
Accurate vehicle detection at loading docks is crucial for businesses to sustain productivity, safety, and environmental standards. Changing weather conditions can adversely affect some sensor technologies. Different shapes, sizes, and numbers of vehicles may cause inaccurate detection. A combination of these factors can lead to inefficiency and hazardous situations, and installing numerous sensors to track multiple targets can be costly.
Solution
The radar technology used in the Q90R2 ignores ambient weather to reliably detect targets, and its IP67/IP69-rated housing and wide -40 °C to +65 °C operating temperature resist changing environmental conditions. The highly-configurable independent sensing zones allow the Q90R2 to detect multiple vehicles, while the wide 120 x 40 degree field of view permits detection of trucks parked at two adjacent loading docks. The sensing parameters can be tailored to meet specific application needs using Banner’s Measurement Sensor Software, and lets the Q90R2 effectively take the place of two sensors.
