Banner Engineering Partners with Turck to Purchase RET Automation Controls in South Africa
Managers Brandon Topham and Garth Cubitt of RET Automation Controls, a new joint venture for Banner Engineering and Turck in South Africa.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – May 31, 2018 – Banner Engineering and Turck, both leading providers of technology for industrial automation, today announced the acquisition of RET Automation Controls in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, South Africa.
RET Automation Controls sells, services, and supports factory and process automation solutions for customers and partner companies throughout South Africa and the nearby region. The company is a long-standing partner to both Banner Engineering and Turck.
“The joint venture in South Africa is a logical continuation of our international strategy for growth,” said Bob Schlicksup, Vice President of Global Sales, Banner Engineering. “We have now made our first step on the African continent and we are very happy that together we can open up a new chapter in our ongoing success story.”
The new company will be managed by Brandon Topham and Garth Cubbitt, shareholders and directors of RET Automation Controls. The company’s existing employees will remain, but the company will be renamed Turck Banner South Africa.

This is the third joint venture in 2018 for the two companies. It joins Turck Banner Malaysia which opened in April 2018 and Turck Banner Singapore which opened in March 2017. Banner Engineering and Turck have been successfully cooperating in Europe for many years, with joint ventures in England, France, and Italy.
